Loss of use

Coverage that pays the additional costs a policyholder incurs when the home is uninhabitable after a covered loss, such as a hotel stay, meals, or extra transportation. Loss of use pays the difference between normal living expenses and the higher costs caused by the loss. It is separate from the dwelling repairs, and the policy sets the limit on the period and the amount that can be claimed.
